Reflecting on 2024: A Year Full of Adventures and Unforgettable Moments

Wow, what a year 2024 has been! As I sit down to reflect on everything we've experienced, I can't help but feel a surge of gratitude and excitement. The Dodo Travelers was officially launched in August, and seeing our dream come to life has been one of my greatest accomplishments. This blog is a labor of love—a space where Nim and I can share the magic of our travels, the places that captured our hearts, and all the unforgettable adventures that make life extraordinary. And to think, this is just the beginning!

The Journeys We Embarked On

London, Our Love Story with the City Continues

Our year started in one of our favorite cities, London. The energy, the iconic landmarks, and the winter magic never cease to amaze us. We visited museums, wandered through vibrant streets, and even managed to catch some Premier League action—a true treat for football enthusiasts like us. London feels like an old friend, always welcoming us back with open arms and endless things to explore.

Reunion Island, A Mother-Daughter Getaway

In April, I had the privilege of experiencing Reunion Island with my mom. We stayed in St Denis for three days, and it was pure bliss. From sipping coffee with breathtaking mountain views to wandering through local markets, those moments are etched in my memory. Traveling with my mom was a special kind of adventure, one filled with laughter, stories, and a deep appreciation for our bond.

Throughout the Year: Quality Time with Family and Friends in Mauritius

2024 was also filled with beautiful moments spent right at home in Mauritius. We organized weekend getaways with family and friends, from cozy picnics by the sea to lively dinners filled with good food and even better company. Those simple yet heartwarming gatherings are what make life feel so full. One highlight was a spontaneous beach day with friends, where we swam until sunset and enjoyed delicious street food from a local vendor. Another memorable occasion was celebrating special family birthdays, where laughter echoed late into the night.

Fast forward to October, and we found ourselves back in London. This time, it was for work, but we made sure to balance business with a touch of pleasure. The city’s autumn vibes were in full swing, with golden leaves decorating the streets. It’s a city that always feels like home, and I’m already dreaming of our next visit.

Planning Our Multi-Country Adventure

The excitement is real! As December draws closer, we’re gearing up for an incredible multi-country adventure. We’ve been meticulously planning everything—booking flights, finding charming accommodations, and crafting an itinerary that promises both thrill and discovery. While I’m keeping the exact destinations a secret for now, I promise that surprises await, and I can’t wait to share every moment with you.

Staycations in Mauritius: Discovering Paradise at Home

This year, we also embraced the beauty of our own island. Mauritius never disappoints, and the hotels and B&Bs we experienced added even more magic to our memories.

These hidden gems stole our hearts. From the serene atmosphere of Eastern Blue to the charming coziness of Maison Sandra, each stay was a reminder of the incredible hospitality and beauty that Mauritius has to offer. We even made a weekend out of it with friends, spending long hours chatting under the stars and enjoying every minute together.

Luxury meets relaxation. These hotels provided moments of pure bliss, whether we were lounging on pristine beaches, savoring exquisite cuisine, or simply soaking in the tranquility of our surroundings. Coin de Mire Attitude, in particular, impressed us with its eco-friendly approach and anti-waste initiatives, a truly inspiring experience. Our time there was enriched by having my family join us for a memorable day at the beach, playing games and soaking up the sun.

Launching The Dodo Travelers has been a beautiful journey of its own. We’ve loved sharing our experiences and connecting with so many of you who share our passion for travel and discovery. As the year comes to a close, we’re not just celebrating our past adventures but also looking forward to 2025 with open hearts and dreams of even more incredible journeys.
