Where a Mauritian Still Needs a Visa (Know Before You Book)

Not every country is open, and pretending otherwise leads to wasted money on non-refundable flights. The main destinations that still require an advance visa for us:

The Fine Print I Wish Someone Had Told Me Earlier

Even with a strong passport, small details can ruin a trip. From years of experience:

1.     Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of return. This is non-negotiable for most Schengen and Asian countries.

2.     Some visa-free entries require proof of onward travel. Have your return ticket printed or on your phone before you land.

3.     Some visa-free entries require proof of accommodation. A hotel booking or an Airbnb confirmation is enough.

4.     Some visa-free entries require proof of funds. Rarely asked, but keep a bank statement handy for immigration at Heathrow, Zurich, or Singapore.

5.     The UK requires an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) from 2025. It costs £10, valid two years, applied online. You still do not need a visa, but this is a new step.
